A small, downtown yoga studio offers a quiet retreat from the busy outside world. In keeping with the raw materials of its existing shell, a new design of the interior incorporated finish-grade plywood and preserved the exposed brick, concrete flooring and partially deteriorated plaster on the walls. Translucent panels and white walls contribute to a tranquil environment. Asymmetrical geometries in the entry space give way to a perfectly symmetrical volume in the meditation area, reinforcing the meditative state of the yoga experience.
